The Marguerite Rose Burton Foundation has made a $10,000 donation for renovations to the Lawrence County High School theater.  Burton established the foundation nearly 50 years ago to fund local programs that promote artistic endeavors.  The donated funds will be used for upgrades to the lighting system, sound system, and acoustics.  This marks the first significant update to the theater since the school was constructed in 1971.

Madison County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic altercation Tuesday in Harvest, arriving to find an adult male deceased inside the home.  Based on their preliminary findings, officials indicate that the man died as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  At the present time the case remains under investigation.

A Florence man is facing numerous charges in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation.  A Lauderdale County Sheriff’s deputy was investigating the stolen Cadillac Escalade when he located it and attempted a traffic stop. Driver James Hoyt Powell, age 37, reportedly fled westbound on Florence Boulevard.  The pursuit ended on North Pine Street when Powell lost control and crashed.  He was arrest on charges of first degree theft, felony eluding […]
