The Lawrenceburg Saturday Free Lunch for March 14 will be hosted by First United Methodist Church, 212 Waterloo Street in Lawrenceburg. The program is sponsored by God’s Storehouse and local churches.  Serving begins around 11 a.m. and runs until the site runs out of food.

The Governing Board of South Central Human Resource Agency will meet March 26 at 11 a.m. at the SCHRA Central Office, 1437 Winchester Highway, Fayetteville. The budget/audit/appropriations, property, personnel and 1303 committees will meet prior to this meeting, at 10 a.m.

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development has announced some $200 million in broadband funding earmarked to close digital divides across the state.  The state is investing the funds through the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment program with a goal of ensuring every Tennessean has access to reliable, high-speed broadband by 2028.  Loretto Telephone Company has been awarded more than $2 million in funding.  Amazon Leo and ZiTEL, serving […]

Waynesboro Police Department issued a public alert Wednesday regarding three runaway juvenile detainees in the area who were last seen in the woods between Clifton Turnpike and Andrew Jackson Drive.  Residents were advised to secure their doors and vehicles.  After a short time they announced a resolution to the situation, indicating that all three runaways had been apprehended and were back in custody.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday that a multi-agency investigation had led to an arrest in connection with a child exploitation case.  They had been tipped off to the situation in January by a School Resource Officer.  They were joined in the investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Internet Crimes Against Child Task Force and the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force.  Donald Bernard Mewhort, Sr., […]

Brad Rochelle was named the 2026 Cattleman of the Year at the recent Lawrence/Wayne County Cattleman’s Association annual meeting.  Raised on the Bryant farm in the Piney community, Rochelle has had a lifelong passion for agriculture and the cattle industry.

Ethridge firefighters are warning the public to exercise caution when burning, due to recent dry and windy weather conditions. Firefighters responded to a field fire that involved a vehicle on Thursday.  They remind the public that something as simple as a vehicle exhaust can quickly ignite dry grass and start a field fire.  They urge residents to be mindful when parking or driving in grassy areas.

Officials with David Crockett State Park are reminding residents that a water break has resulted in many of the park’s facilities being shut down.  The park remains open to visitors, however there is no water available.  The restaurant, front office, campgrounds and cabins are closed until repairs are completed.  Porta-Johns are available throughout the park.  Repairs are underway and water service is expected to be restored by Monday.
