The Shelter Announces December Needs

The Shelter, Inc., a safe haven for victims of domestic violence, has announced items that are needed throughout the month of December.  Some items needed include:  Queen-sized comforters, pillows, and warm blankets.  Remember that every donation, big or small, helps them continue to support domestic violence survivors and their children. Items may be dropped off at their headquarters, located at 615 Westpoint Road in Lawrenceburg.

Guatemala Resident Convicted in Child Exploitation Case

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office has announced a conviction in their initiative to combat child exploitation.  Edgar Josue Castro-Juarez of Guatemala, age 29, was convicted on charges that include electronic solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a child for an unlawful ex act, and first degree attempted human trafficking.  Since the initiative was launched in February of 2024, officers have arrested nearly 50 individuals.  Sentencing for Castro-Juarez is scheduled […]

Florence PD Arrest Man on Sex Offense

The Florence Police Department reported an arrest Wednesday in connection with a recent sex offense investigation.  The male victim had reported he was sexually assaulted while he was sleeping.  The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Florence resident Daniel Story.  The Lauderdale County Grand Jury has returned an indictment, charging Story with sodomy in the first degree.  Story was subsequently arrested in Ohio and extradited back to the Lauderdale County Detention […]

Lawrence Alabama Narcotics Investigation Yields Arrest

An on-going narcotics investigation in Lawrence County, Alabama, has resulted in an arrest following a traffic stop.  The traffic stop was conducted on December 3.  During the stop deputies seized a stolen firearm, Suboxone strips, drug paraphernalia, and around 4 ounces of methamphetamine.  Jeremy Orlanda Orr was arrested on charges of trafficking meth, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Additional charges are pending.

Lawrenceburg City Offices to Close for Christmas and New Year Holidays

The City of Lawrenceburg announced that city offices will be closed Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, 2025, in observance of the Christmas holidays.
