Memorial Day Closings Announced for City, County Offices

Lawrence County Government offices, including the Solid Waste Transfer Station, will be closed Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. The City of Lawrenceburg has also announced city offices will be closed Monday for the holiday. City officials say residential garbage cart pickup will take place Thursday, May 28 following the holiday. Residents are encouraged to place carts out early Thursday morning because it will be a double-route day.

THP Announces Sobriety Checkpoints in Bedford, Wayne Counties

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has announced upcoming sobriety checkpoints in Bedford and Wayne counties. According to THP, a checkpoint will be conducted Friday, May 22 in Bedford County on U.S. 41A North at State Route 16, approximately 0.9 miles south of the three-mile marker. Another sobriety checkpoint is scheduled Friday, May 22 in Wayne County on U.S. Highway 64 at the Hardin County line.
