Each station, with its unique programming and dedicated coverage of local news, weather, sports, and music, contributes to a rich tapestry of audio experiences that resonate with nearly 4 million potential listeners.

As Radio7Media continues to innovate and adapt, it stands as a beacon of local engagement, connecting communities and celebrating the unique spirit of the region through the airwaves.

Origin Story

WWLX began broadcasting in September 1981 with 500 watts of power on 620 KHZ from its newly constructed studio located in the industrial park in Lexington, AL. The 500 watts at this frequency was equivalent to about 3000 watts as compared to the upper dial locations. Shortly thereafter, the station upgraded to 5000 watts making it the AM powerhouse in the Tennessee Valley.

Owner Roger Wright had substantial experience in broadcasting having built and worked at WMGL on 98.3 in Pulaski. Then on August 3, 1983. Wright began broadcasting on 92.1 licensed to Minor Hill, Tn., again operated from the Lexington studio. Ultimately the 620 facility was sold and in 1987 WWLX moved its’ studio to 1208 North Locust Ave., in Lawrenceburg. In September of 1990, WLLX was granted to serve Lawrenceburg and installed the 97.5 transmitter on the WWLX tower just south of Lawrenceburg. It was then that 92.1 was sold to a Huntsville AL. company.

A while later the transmitter was moved to 1208 N. Locust Ave. where it remained until the station was upgraded to 50,000 watts and the transmitter was moved to its current location just north of Pulaski. WLLX has re-broadcast facilities in Lewisburg, Columbia. Lawrenceburg, and Muscle Shoals, AL

Today, WLLX is the most powerful broadcast facility in the region from Nashville to Huntsville and operates from its studios located at 1212 N. Locust Ave., in Lawrenceburg. WLXA, 98.3 owned by Radio7Media, is also broadcasting from the N. Locust studio and is now licensed to Florence, AL.

WLXA, formerly WKSR-FM, was acquired from Lakewood Communications in 2015. WLXA and WLLX share the same programming which gives the stations among the largest coverage areas up and down the I-65 corridor of any station in the middle Tennessee and North Alabama region.
