Lawrence County Fire & Rescue Urges Caution Amid Dry Conditions

Lawrence County Fire & Rescue is urging residents to use caution with outdoor burning as dry conditions continue across the area.

The department said firefighters have responded to numerous fire-related calls during Middle Tennessee District Fair week, with many attributed to the lack of significant rainfall.

Officials said portions of southern Middle Tennessee are experiencing moderate to severe drought conditions, with some areas reaching extreme drought levels.

Residents are being asked to exercise caution when conducting any open burning as the dry conditions increase the risk of fires spreading.

The warning comes as the Middle Tennessee District Fair continues at Rotary Park, bringing additional visitors and activity to Lawrence County.
