The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is encouraging students across the state to participate in the 2026-27 National Art of Conservation: Fish Art Contest.
The free contest is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Participants may submit one original two-dimensional piece of artwork depicting a Tennessee native fish in its natural habitat.
Students may use photographs or videos as inspiration, but entries must be original and cannot replicate another artist’s work. Goldfish, guppies, bettas and koi are not eligible.
TWRA has also added the Bill Dance Signature Lakes Award, honoring fishing legend Bill Dance and the agency’s efforts to develop fishing destinations across Tennessee. Students wishing to be considered for the specialty award should submit artwork featuring largemouth or smallmouth bass or bass fishing.
Entries must be submitted through an online entry form available through Wildlife Forever’s Art of Conservation program.
The deadline to submit artwork is February 28, 2027.
