Wilson Dam Road to Close for Approximately Six Months Beginning October 5

Wilson Dam Road will close beginning Monday, October 5, as the Tennessee Valley Authority begins a major dam safety improvement project.

According to the City of Florence, the closure is expected to last approximately six months, depending on weather conditions and the progress of the project.

During the closure, TVA crews will replace chains on all 49 spillway gates at Wilson Dam and perform maintenance on Units 1 and 2 of the dam’s 21 generating units.

Motorists who regularly use Wilson Dam Road to cross the Tennessee River are encouraged to begin planning alternate routes.

TVA will provide updates on the closure through area news media, its website and the Waze traffic navigation app.
