The Giles County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a scam targeting the family members of incarcerated subjects. Scammers are calling loved ones posing as bail bondsmen, saying they can have inmates released on home electronic monitoring for a reduced rate. They then attempt to get people to give their credit card information over the phone. Officials remind residents that bail bondsmen do not seek out family to arrange bonds by phone. If you are approached in this manner, please report it to your local law enforcement agency.
