The Lawrenceburg City Council met Thursday (9/24), with public comments, the introduction of two new police officers, and action on a zoning ordinance among the items addressed.

During public comments, Elle McCann addressed the council regarding the Fourth Amendment and concerns about license plate readers. Tiffany Charbonnet addressed the council regarding various industries.

During the mayor’s announcements and business, a motion was made and later approved to move the October 8 council meeting to October 15 at the same time.

Lawrenceburg Police Deputy Chief Hughie Englett introduced two of the city’s newest police officers, Jason Marshall and Lincoln Prichard, to the council.

The council also approved Ordinance 1462 following a public hearing. The ordinance establishes C-2 Highway Services zoning for property owned by Rebecca and Joshua Dodd on U.S. Highway 43 at White Road. The property, which was previously annexed into the city without a zoning classification, currently contains a daycare and is proposed to be divided into two lots, with the second lot proposed for general retail use.
