The Lawrence County Commission elected officers and acted on several resolutions during its September 22 meeting.

David Morgan was initially elected chair by a 10–7 vote over Scott Franks but declined the position and encouraged commissioners to support Franks. Franks was then elected chair by voice vote. Ricky Skillington was elected chair pro tempore, and Ryan Durham was elected county attorney.

The commission approved several items by voice vote, including the election of notaries, previous meeting minutes, the closure of Hollman Road, an appointment to the Lawrence County Senior Citizens board and the addition of four roads to the county road list.

Measures involving an electronic filing fee and the Estate of Jo Elaine Tidwell both passed with 17 yes votes and one member absent. A PILOT-related measure involving F9 Properties, LLC, passed 13–4, with Will Burnett absent.

Commissioners amended the county budget resolution to return its E-911 provisions to committee before approving the resolution as amended. An EMS event stand-by services resolution was also sent back to committee, with Skillington voicing opposition.

During public comments, Elle McCann and Tiffany Charbonnet again requested a moratorium on data centers.
