Lawrence County Fire & Rescue responded to several incidents Monday evening after a pop-up thunderstorm caused wind damage in parts of the county.
According to Lawrence County Fire & Rescue, crews had confirmed at least five damaged or broken utility poles as of 5:33 PM Monday. Multiple reports of downed trees were also received.
Officials urged motorists to use caution in the New Prospect and Crossroads communities as emergency personnel worked at several locations.
Fire officials also asked drivers not to travel around emergency vehicles blocking roadways, noting that several motorists had driven past emergency vehicles being used to close roads.
The roadblocks were put in place for public safety while crews responded to the storm damage.
