Motorcyclist Killed After Leaving Roadway in Lauderdale County

According to media reports, a Georgia man was killed Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Lauderdale County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the crash happened around 12:05 PM on Lauderdale County 14, approximately seven miles west of Florence.

Authorities said 73-year-old Kenneth L. Franks of Dalton, Georgia, was riding a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when it left the roadway and struck several trees. Franks was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
