According to media reports, a high-speed pursuit involving two motorcycles crossed from Lauderdale County into Limestone County Wednesday night, resulting in one arrest and leaving a Limestone County sheriff’s deputy hospitalized.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Joe Hamilton said the incident began around 8:10 PM in Anderson when a deputy spotted two motorcycles traveling on Highway 207, including one without a license plate.

Both riders fled when the deputy attempted a traffic stop.

Authorities said one of the riders initially stopped before returning to the roadway and attempting to interfere with the pursuit. The rider reportedly pulled alongside the deputy’s patrol vehicle and swerved in an effort to prevent the deputy from pursuing the other motorcycle.

The pursuit continued into Limestone County, where authorities took one of the motorcyclists into custody. The second rider escaped and remained at large.

During the emergency response, a Limestone County sheriff’s deputy was involved in a serious crash on Sandlin Road near Ridge Road in Elkmont. The deputy’s patrol vehicle left the roadway, and the deputy was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.

The deputy’s condition had not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
