Firefighters from Columbia, Tennessee, continue assisting with efforts to contain the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County, Texas, about 80 miles west of Fort Worth.
The wildfire began August 24 and has grown to approximately 90,400 acres, making it the largest wildfire in Texas this year and the 15th-largest in state history.
The fire was determined to be human-caused and originated from equipment or vehicle use along a roadway.
In an update released Wednesday morning, the City of Columbia reported that the Ross Fire remains approximately 90,400 acres in size and is 57 percent contained.
Columbia Fire & Rescue crews continue making steady progress, strengthening containment lines and working deeper into the burned area to locate and extinguish remaining hot spots.
Multiple aircraft are also supporting operations, working alongside firefighters on the ground as containment efforts continue.
