TDOT to Suspend Lane Closures for Labor Day Holiday

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will suspend lane closure activity on interstates and state routes during the Labor Day holiday travel period.

Construction crews will stop lane-closure activities at noon Friday, September 4, and resume at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 8.
TDOT says the suspension is intended to provide maximum roadway capacity for motorists traveling during the holiday weekend.
While lane closures will be suspended, workers may still be present in construction zones, and motorists are reminded to obey posted speed limits and move over and slow down for first responders and HELP trucks.
Drivers convicted of speeding in work zones where workers are present can face fines ranging from $250 to $500, along with court fees.
