Heat Advisories Issued for Middle Tennessee and North Alabama

The National Weather Service has issued Heat Advisories for much of Middle Tennessee and north Alabama beginning Wednesday (9/2).

In Middle Tennessee, the advisory will remain in effect through 8:00 p.m. Friday (9/4), with heat index values reaching as high as 109 degrees.

In north Alabama, the advisory will remain in effect through 8:00 p.m. Saturday (9/5), with heat index values ranging from 105 to 109 degrees.

Hot temperatures combined with high humidity may lead to heat-related illnesses.

The National Weather Service encourages everyone to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned location, avoid prolonged time in the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Those working outdoors should take frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool, shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency and requires immediate medical attention.
