Unemployment Rates Fall in Nearly All Tennessee Counties in July

Unemployment rates declined in 93 of Tennessee’s 95 counties during July, according to newly released data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Eighty-nine counties recorded unemployment rates below 5%.
Perry County had the state’s highest unemployment rate at 5.8%, down three-tenths of a percentage point from June.
Cheatham, Sevier, Williamson and Dickson counties recorded Tennessee’s lowest unemployment rates at 2.8%.
Obion County was the only county where unemployment remained unchanged from June, while Weakley County was the only county to record an increase.
Weakley County’s unemployment rate increased four-tenths of a percentage point to 5.3%.
The state will release Tennessee’s August unemployment data on September 17.
