September 16, 1995 – August 24, 2026 

A Tender Heart, Forever Loved 

Jake had a tenderness about him that those who truly knew him will never forget. 

He loved deeply. He cared deeply. And his heart seemed especially drawn to anything that needed a 

little extra love. Animals were no exception—if Jake could have rescued every dog that crossed his path, there is little doubt that he would have. 

Music was part of him. So was family, laughter, quiet moments, and the people he held close. 

But perhaps one of the most important parts of Jake’s life was being a dad. 

His daughter held a place in his heart that belonged only to her. And he had another place in his heart for his second baby girl to be filled. 

There should have been more time. 

More birthdays. 

More songs. 

More family pictures. 

More dogs to bring home. 

More ordinary days that we never realize are extraordinary until they are gone. 

More time for Isabelle and June to know their daddy. 

Jake also fought battles that were difficult and personal. 

But those battles were never all that Jake was. 

He was a man with a tender heart who struggled, who loved, who mattered so much. We will remember all of Jake. 

His smile. 

His love of music. 

His soft heart for animals. 

The stories that still make us laugh. 

The memories that now mean more than we ever imagined they would. 

His beautiful smile. 

We will make sure Isabelle remembers her daddy. 

And someday, little June will grow up hearing his name, seeing his pictures, listening to his stories, and knowing that her daddy loved her before he ever had the chance to hold her. 

Jake’s life was far too short. 

But he was here. 

He loved. 

He was loved. 

And he mattered. 

That is the Jake we will carry with us. 

Forever loved. 

Forever missed. 

Forever Jake. 

He was preceded in death by his Brother, Cody Cozart and Nephew, Aarow Robinson. 

Jake is survived by his Daughters, Ivy June and Isabelle Shults; Mother, Shelly Vess; Fathers, Robert Shults, Tim Vess, and Jeff Foley; Fiancee‘, Samantha Beckman; Brother, Jordan Shults; Sister, Whitney Robinson; Grandparents, Kenny and Ruth Welcher; along with countless other family and friends that will love and miss him everyday. 

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2026, with Chad Moore officiating.
