Giles County Deputy Placed on Administrative Leave Amid Investigation

The Giles County Sheriff’s Office has placed a deputy on administrative leave following allegations involving the euthanization of two dogs.

The Sheriff’s Office said Friday morning that it had become aware of allegations circulating on social media involving a veteran Giles County deputy.

Sheriff Joe Purvis said he was disturbed by the allegations and placed the deputy on administrative leave. Purvis has also requested that the District Attorney’s Office immediately investigate the matter.

The Sheriff’s Office said it takes the treatment of animals and allegations of potential employee misconduct seriously.

Purvis said additional information will be released when possible without compromising the investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to allow the investigative process to take place and refrain from drawing conclusions until the investigation is complete.
