One Dead, Others Injured in Fiery I-65 Crash in Maury County

According to media reports, one person was killed and others were injured in a fiery crash involving four commercial vehicles on Interstate 65 in Maury County Tuesday.

The crash occurred near southbound mile marker 50. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a commercial vehicle traveling northbound crossed the median into the southbound lanes and struck another commercial vehicle before hitting two more.

One of the vehicles caught fire following the collisions, causing the other three commercial vehicles to also catch fire.

Maury County first responders, along with the Spring Hill Fire Department and Spring Hill Police Department, responded to the scene. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

The crash resulted in an extended closure of the interstate while authorities investigated, cleared the wreckage and repaired the roadway. Northbound lanes reopened Tuesday evening, while the southbound lanes remained closed for several more hours.

Interstate 65 fully reopened to traffic around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday.
