Maury County Fire Department Responds to Two Incidents Saturday

The Maury County Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire and a rope rescue during separate incidents Saturday.

At approximately 12:06 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to Mikey Court in Culleoka for a vehicle fire next to a home. Because of the potential for the fire to spread to the residence, a full response was dispatched. Crews arrived to find a fire in the vehicle’s engine compartment and quickly contained it before it could spread.

Later, at approximately 5:56 p.m., crews responded to Carpenters Bridge Road after a person fell down an embankment. Firefighters established a rope rescue system, secured the patient in a Stokes basket and hauled the patient to the top of the embankment.

While the rescue was underway, the Maury County Fire Department established a landing zone for Air Evac Lifeteam.

The department credited its volunteers for helping provide quicker responses by staffing smaller emergency vehicles when available and also thanked dispatchers for their work handling emergency calls.
