Tennessee Drivers Reminded What School Bus Warning Lights Mean

When a school bus displays flashing yellow lights, drivers should slow down and prepare to stop. The yellow lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload students, and motorists should wait for the red lights.

When the red lights are flashing, motorists who are required to stop should come to a complete stop at least 25 feet from the school bus and remain stopped until the red lights are turned off.

If a school bus is displaying yellow hazard lights, motorists should proceed slowly and with caution. Drivers should not pass the bus if its stop arm is extended.
