Mount Pleasant Authorities Warn of Scam

Mount Pleasant and Maury County law enforcement agencies are warning the public about a scam that has been reported in the area.  Residents have reported receiving calls from a spoofed number, so that the call appears to be coming from the sheriff’s department. The caller claims to be Sheriff Bucky Rowland or a member of his staff, and that there are warrants for your arrest.  They claim that in order to avoid arrest you can pay fines immediately with gift cards, wire transfers or Bitcoin.  If you receive this type of call, they ask that you hang up immediately and contact the sheriff’s department.
