Election Day Underway Across Tennessee

Today is Election Day across Tennessee as voters continue heading to the polls to cast ballots in party primaries for Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, and other state legislative offices, as well as county general elections.

Polls remain open until 7:00 p.m. Any voter who is in line when the polls close will still be allowed to vote.

Voters are required to present a valid Tennessee or federally issued photo identification before casting a ballot. Acceptable forms of identification include a Tennessee driver’s license, Tennessee Department of Safety photo ID, U.S. passport, military photo ID, or other government-issued photo identification that meets state requirements.

Election officials encourage voters who have not yet cast a ballot to verify their polling location before heading to the polls, as voting locations can vary depending on precinct.

In Lawrence County, voters are casting ballots in general elections for County Executive, Sheriff, County Commission, School Board, and other local offices.

Unofficial election results are expected to begin becoming available after the polls close this evening.
