Giles Officials Warn of Counterfeit Bills

Officials with the Giles County Sheriff’s Department are warning residents, business owners, and vendors to be aware that a number of counterfeit $100 bills have been passed in the area.  Some of the bills even passed a counterfeit-detection pen test, so they urge you to be vigilant in checking the authenticity of any $100 bills you may receive.  They recommend that you carefully inspect all large-denomination bills and compare security features, including the watermark, security thread, color-shifting ink and overall print quality.  Should you suspect that a bill is counterfeit, notify your law enforcement agency as soon as possible.
