The Lawrenceburg Elks Lodge has donated dictionaries to every third-grade student in Lawrence County as part of The Dictionary Project.

Lodge representatives presented the dictionaries to the Lawrence County School Board on Monday, July 14, continuing an annual tradition that began in 2007.

According to the Elks Lodge, the local chapter joined The Dictionary Project through the efforts of Past Lodge President Randy Carl, who introduced the initiative and helped establish it as one of the lodge’s annual community outreach programs.

The Elks said the dictionaries are intended to help young students strengthen their reading and writing skills while promoting literacy and education throughout Lawrence County.

Pictured during the presentation are Director of Instruction Brian Porter, Elks Lodge Past President Randy Carl, Elks Chairman Barry Luffman, Elks Lodge President Kelby Luffman, and Director of Academic Services Katie Ridgeway.
