Lawrence County Fire Rescue Responds to 11 Emergency Calls Saturday

Lawrence County Fire Rescue responded to 11 emergency calls on Saturday, July 18, including eight motor vehicle crashes with injuries, a residential fire alarm activation, and two high-priority medical calls.

According to the department, two of the crashes involved occupants who were pinned or entrapped inside their vehicles. One of the crashes also required a response from the department’s technical rescue team because of the difficult terrain at the scene.

Fire officials said crews were responding to multiple emergencies at the same time on three separate occasions during the day. Members of the department’s technical rescue team had been participating in an eight-hour training session and were able to respond immediately when the specialized rescue was needed.

The department noted that all of Saturday’s calls were handled by volunteer firefighters, as Lawrence County Fire Rescue does not have paid staffing on weekends or overnight hours. The Lawrenceburg Fire Department provided mutual aid on two of the incidents.

Lawrence County Fire Rescue thanked its volunteers for their dedication, saying their training and commitment made a positive difference during several emergency situations throughout the day.
