The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for all of Middle Tennessee and portions of north Alabama through 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (7/21).
The advisory includes Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, and Morgan counties in Alabama.
Dangerous heat and humidity are expected, with heat index values ranging from well above 100 degrees in Middle Tennessee to as high as 105 to 109 degrees in north Alabama.
The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity could lead to heat-related illnesses.
The National Weather Service encourages everyone to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned location, avoid prolonged time in the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. If you must be outdoors, wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing, limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours, and take immediate action if you or someone else shows signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
