SUD Secures Funding for Water Projects

Summertown Utility District has secured $5.5 million in federal funding for a water project that will significantly increase its ability to meet current and future customer needs.  The project includes development of the Caldwell Road well, piping of raw water to the water plant, construction of a filtration plant, and replacement of some older water mains.  USDA Rural Development grant funds of $679,000 has been earmarked for the project.  The remaining $4,821,000 will be made available through a 40-year USDA, low interest loan.  The project is expected to be completed in fall of 2027.
