One Airlifted Following West End Crash

Lawrence County Fire Rescue has released additional details about a Thursday afternoon crash in the West End area of Lawrence County.

According to the department, crews were dispatched at approximately 2:39 p.m. after Lawrence County E-911 received reports of a crash involving serious injuries and an entrapped patient.

Firefighters arrived to find two vehicles involved and four patients, including one child. An adult occupant of one vehicle was trapped upside down after the vehicle rolled during the crash. Rescue personnel used hydraulic rescue tools to free the patient while Lawrence County EMS provided medical care.

After being extricated, the critically injured patient was flown by Air Evac Lifeteam to a trauma center.

Three occupants of the second vehicle were evaluated at the scene. Two were transported by ground ambulance to Southern Tennessee Regional Health System Lawrenceburg with non-critical injuries.

Lawrence County Fire Rescue said crews have responded to several serious crashes involving injuries and entrapments in recent weeks and reminded motorists to wear seat belts and drive safely.
