TWRA Deer Bait Privilege License Available Beginning July 22

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will begin offering the new Deer Bait Privilege License on Wednesday, July 22.

The new license is required for anyone who wishes to hunt white-tailed deer over bait in Tennessee, regardless of age, lifetime license status, or other license exemptions. The license will cost $50 for Tennessee residents and $100 for non-residents and will be available through GoOutdoorsTennessee.com and the TWRA On the Go app.

The license is valid for 365 days from the date of purchase and applies only to hunting on private property that is owned or leased by the hunter or where the hunter has permission to hunt.

TWRA reminds hunters that deer baiting is not permitted on Wildlife Management Areas, within the Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Management Zone, or in any county where CWD has been confirmed.

The agency says regulations governing bait types, quantities, and placement are intended to help protect wildlife by reducing the spread of disease and limiting unintended impacts on other wildlife species.
