Lawrenceburg Animal Shelter to Participate in BISSELL ‘Empty the Shelters’ Adoption Event

The Lawrence County-Lawrenceburg Animal Shelter will participate in the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s nationwide Empty the Shelters adoption event on July 18 and 19, offering reduced adoption fees on dogs.

The event will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the shelter, located at 815 Gaither Avenue in Lawrenceburg.

During the event, all dogs will be available for adoption for $50. Adopted dogs will be up to date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered or have surgery scheduled at the time of adoption, and microchipped. The adoption fee also includes on-site microchip registration.

The shelter says summer is one of the busiest times of the year as puppy season increases the number of animals needing homes while adoptions typically slow. Officials hope the event will help more pets find permanent homes while creating additional space for incoming animals.

In addition to meeting adoptable dogs, visitors can enjoy food from local food trucks and speak with shelter staff and volunteers about finding the right pet for their family.

The Lawrence County-Lawrenceburg Animal Shelter is one of hundreds of shelters across the United States and Canada participating in the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters campaign, which has helped more than 400,000 pets find homes since its launch in 2016.
