Former Wayne Halfway House CFO Indicted on Multiple Charges

A former chief financial officer at Wayne Halfway House has been indicted on multiple charges following an investigation into alleged financial irregularities.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Jeremy Bryant, 47, of Waynesboro, was arrested Friday after a capias was issued by the Wayne County Grand Jury.

Bryant has been charged with theft of property between $10,000 and $25,000, forgery, fraudulent use of a credit card, and theft of property between $1,000 and $2,500.

Wayne Halfway House Owner and CEO Jason Crews said the company identified irregularities involving Bryant last year. Crews said Bryant was terminated following an internal review, and the matter was referred to law enforcement.

Crews added that the investigation remains an active law enforcement matter and declined further comment.

Bryant’s next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, July 13.
