Former Giles County Bobcat Ben Peoples Called Up to Major Leagues

Former Giles County High School standout Ben Peoples has been called up to the Major Leagues by the Texas Rangers.

According to WKSR Radio, the Rangers selected the contract of the right-handed pitcher from Triple-A Round Rock, putting him in line to make his Major League debut.

Peoples joined the Rangers organization earlier this week after being acquired from the Chicago White Sox organization in exchange for minor league catcher Ben Hartl.

Before the trade, Peoples was one of Triple-A Charlotte’s top pitchers, posting a 2.39 earned run average, a 1.09 WHIP, and a 5-1 record over 37.2 innings this season.

The call-up marks another milestone in the baseball career of the Giles County native as he prepares to make his first appearance in Major League Baseball.
