National Weather Service: Dangerous Heat Expected Through at Least Friday

The National Weather Service in Nashville says an extended period of dangerous heat is expected to continue through at least Friday across Middle Tennessee.

Forecasters say daytime high temperatures will generally range from 89 to 101 degrees, with heat index values between 100 and 114 degrees. Overnight low temperatures are expected to remain warm, ranging from 72 to 79 degrees, providing little relief from the heat.

The Weather Service indicates much of Middle Tennessee faces an extreme heat risk, meaning the prolonged heat and warm nights could affect anyone without effective cooling or adequate hydration.

Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and use air conditioning if available. Officials note that fans alone may not provide adequate protection during periods of extreme heat.

The National Weather Service urges everyone to take precautions as the dangerous heat continues through the end of the week.
