Lawrenceburg City Councilman Darryl Watson Announces Mayoral Candidacy

Lawrenceburg City Councilman Darryl Watson has officially announced his candidacy for mayor of Lawrenceburg.

In a social media post Thursday, Watson said he has taken the necessary steps to begin his campaign, including submitting his resignation from the Lawrenceburg City Council in accordance with the city charter.

Watson said his resignation was submitted in time for his council seat to be placed on the November ballot, allowing Lawrenceburg voters to choose who will serve the remainder of his unexpired two-year term.

Watson also announced that he picked up qualifying papers at the Lawrence County Election Commission office for the upcoming mayoral campaign.

The announcement comes the same day the Lawrenceburg City Council acknowledged Watson’s resignation. According to the council, the resignation becomes effective July 2.
