Lawrence County Fire & Rescue has shared a message of appreciation from the family of a woman who recently suffered a medical emergency.
In a social media post, Leslie Bedford thanked personnel with Lawrence County EMS and the New Prospect Fire Department for what she described as their compassionate, professional, and rapid response during her mother’s medical emergency. She said it was the second time in recent weeks the family had called for assistance.
Bedford also shared that her mother was diagnosed earlier this year with multiple myeloma. She said treatment for the cancer was stopped after it took a toll on her health, leading to multiple blood transfusions. She also said her mother was later diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia and suffered a stroke during the recent emergency.
According to the post, the stroke affected her mother’s speech, though she has shown some improvement. The family is asking the community to keep her in their thoughts and prayers as she continues her recovery.
Lawrence County Fire & Rescue thanked the family for their kind words and said its thoughts and prayers are with them as their loved one works to regain strength and heal.
