Spring Hill Ambulance Service Could Be in Jeopardy

According to media reports, ambulance service in Spring Hill could be in jeopardy as Williamson County leaders consider ending emergency medical service coverage on the Maury County side of the city.

Williamson County currently provides EMS to all of Spring Hill through Williamson Health, including the portion of the city located in Maury County. However, county leaders have reportedly expressed frustration that Maury County does not help cover the cost of providing the service.

According to media reports, Spring Hill Mayor Matt Fitterer said the city should not be responsible for paying what he considers a county obligation, adding that doing so could double taxes for Spring Hill residents.

Maury County officials are reportedly exploring options to either help fund the existing service or provide EMS coverage themselves.

In addition to determining who will provide the service, Fitterer is also calling for more ambulances to serve the city. According to media reports, two ambulances currently serve Spring Hill’s population of approximately 60,000 residents.

Williamson Health has agreed to continue providing EMS coverage throughout Spring Hill for the next six months while discussions continue.
