The Tennessee Highway Patrol is asking the public to heed the results of a recent National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study regarding airbag and seatbelt safety during crashes.  The study, which examined data collected between 2016 and 2021, concluded that while certain airbags triggered during rollovers and reduced the likelihood that occupants would be ejected, wearing a seatbelt continues to be the most influential factor in preventing ejection in rollover crashes.  Since a vehicle occupant NOT wearing a seatbelt dies in a traffic crash every 54 minutes, they urge motorists to buckle up – every single time.
