Stolen Vehicle Investigation Yields Arrest

A Florence man is facing numerous charges in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation.  A Lauderdale County Sheriff’s deputy was investigating the stolen Cadillac Escalade when he located it and attempted a traffic stop. Driver James Hoyt Powell, age 37, reportedly fled westbound on Florence Boulevard.  The pursuit ended on North Pine Street when Powell lost control and crashed.  He was arrest on charges of first degree theft, felony eluding arrest, and numerous traffic infractions.  He was incarcerated at the Lauderdale County Jail under a bond of $33,600.
