Matt Calvert Named Principal of Lawrence County High School

Lawrence County Schools has announced the appointment of Matt Calvert as the new principal of Lawrence County High School.

Calvert brings 28 years of experience in public education and has served in a variety of roles throughout his career, including teacher, coach, athletic director, and administrator.

A graduate of the University of North Alabama, Calvert began his educational career at Cornersville High School in 1998, where he taught mathematics, physical education, and special education while coaching basketball and golf. He was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 2001.

After earning a Master of Education degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 2003, Calvert returned to Lawrence County in 2005 to serve at New Prospect Elementary School as Director of Athletics, physical education teacher, and head coach of the basketball and baseball programs.
