Spring Hill Fire Department Urges Drivers to Disable iPhone Crash Detection When Vehicle Systems Already Provide It

The Spring Hill Fire Department is encouraging drivers to disable iPhone Auto-Crash Detection if their vehicle is already equipped with crash detection technology.

According to the department, some vehicles can automatically detect a crash and contact emergency services. Officials say disabling the iPhone feature in those cases may help reduce false emergency calls and prevent unnecessary use of emergency response resources.

The department notes that Auto-Crash Detection can be turned off by opening Settings, selecting Emergency SOS, scrolling to Auto-Crash Detection, and disabling the feature.

Fire officials say reducing false alerts helps emergency responders remain available for actual emergencies and improves response efficiency.
