David O’Connor Departs Giles County Football Program

According to WKSR, Giles County High School head football coach David O’Connor is leaving the Bobcats program after 10 seasons.

O’Connor will become the new head football coach at Hazel Green High School in Alabama. The move will place him closer to home as he approaches retirement.

During his tenure at Giles County, O’Connor compiled a record of 150 wins and 67 losses and led the Bobcats to a state championship in 2009.

This past season, Giles County advanced to the TSSAA Class 3A state quarterfinals and finished with a 9-4 record.

The Giles County head football coaching position is now open while school officials search for O’Connor’s replacement, although several assistant coaches are expected to remain with the program.
