Tennessee Releases April County Unemployment Rates

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development reports 89 of the state’s 95 counties recorded unemployment rates below 5% in April.

According to figures released Thursday, Cheatham County and Dickson County tied for the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 2.6%.

Williamson County was part of a seven-way tie for the state’s second-lowest unemployment rate at 2.7%.

Maury County reported the highest unemployment rate in the state at 6.1%.

Lewis County recorded the second-highest unemployment rate at 5.8%, while Perry County reported the third-highest rate at 5.3%.

Among other area counties, Marshall County was part of a two-way tie for the fifth-highest unemployment rate in the state at 5.0%, while Lawrence County and Giles County were part of a four-way tie for the sixth-highest rate at 4.7%.

The statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for April was 3.6%, though county unemployment figures are not seasonally adjusted.

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development says unemployment rates declined in 36 counties, remained unchanged in 32 counties, and increased in 27 counties compared to March.
