The Lawrence County Historical Society will meet Thursday, May 28 at 6:30 PM at the Southern Tennessee Higher Education Center.
Dr. Elizabeth Taylor will present a program on the history of Camp Forrest and the important role it played in training troops for World War II action. Camp Forrest was also one of the largest German prisoner-of-war camps in the United States during the war and was created to hold approximately 24,000 POWs.
Dr. Taylor holds a Master’s degree in political science and public administration from Georgia State University and a Doctorate in Public Administration from Valdosta State University.
Members are encouraged to attend, and guests are welcome.
