Flood Safety Reminder Issued for Lawrence County

Officials are reminding motorists to use caution on flooded roadways as periods of heavy rainfall continue across Lawrence County.

According to information shared on social media, Lawrence County has approximately 115 low-water bridges, and recent rainfall has already created hazardous conditions in some areas.

Reports of water rescues have also been reported in southern portions of Lawrence County as heavy rain continues to impact roadways and low-lying areas.

Motorists are being urged not to drive through flooded roads and to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” when encountering high water.

Officials say even shallow moving water can quickly become dangerous and encourage residents to monitor changing weather and road conditions closely.
