Fire Damages Former E&E Food & Spirits Building

According to a release from Fire Chief Kevin Slone, crews were dispatched around 9:30 PM May 25 to 2381 Lawrenceburg Highway and remained on scene until approximately 2:30 AM Tuesday working to contain and extinguish the fire.

Officials say the fire was contained primarily to the upper floor of the structure, with only minimal extension into the lower floor.

Firefighters were later called back to the scene shortly before 8:00 AM Tuesday because of a rekindle.

Ovilla Volunteer Fire Department thanked assisting agencies including Station 7, Station 1, Henryville Fire Department, West End Fire Department, and Box 50 of Lawrence County for their assistance during the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact the fire department.
