County Executive David Morgan Visits Lawrenceburg Rotary

County issues and future growth opportunities were the focus of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club regular meeting on Friday, May 22, as Rotarian Tina Holt introduced guest speaker David Morgan. Morgan provided members with a comprehensive county update highlighting recent accomplishments, ongoing projects, and future initiatives affecting Lawrence County residents.

Morgan discussed progress within the county school system, including teacher raises and the addition of mental health counselors now serving students in four schools across the county. He also reviewed plans associated with a $12 million bond initiative designed to fund needed facility improvements. Transportation infrastructure was another major topic, with Morgan noting that Lawrence County is currently undertaking the largest road investment program in county history, totaling approximately $9.2 million. He also highlighted continued expansion of water lines to improve service and support future growth.

Economic development remains a priority for county leadership, and Morgan pointed to Magna International as the largest financial investment in county history. He shared optimism regarding the future of the local plant and its long-term impact on the community and local economy. Morgan also outlined improvements made within emergency medical services, noting that Lawrence County now operates with five fully staffed ambulances to better meet public safety and healthcare needs.

The county executive discussed a recent trip to Washington, D.C., emphasizing the importance of building and strengthening relationships with key individuals in congressional offices to advocate for local priorities and future opportunities. Other topics included discussion surrounding the potential impact of a proposed data center project and clarification regarding the county’s recent tax revaluation process. Morgan explained that after equalization, the county’s overall net assessment remains unchanged, with the tax rate adjusted downward to offset increases in property valuations.

Lawrenceburg Rotary President Maria Santini thanked Morgan for sharing insights and updates on the many projects and initiatives shaping the future of Lawrence County. The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club meets weekly and is committed to community service, leadership development, and supporting local and international initiatives that improve lives and strengthen communities.
