Lawrence County EMS says crews are continuing preparations to place a new ambulance into service in Lawrence County.
According to Lawrence County EMS, personnel recently worked on stocking the new Unit 205 as part of the state approval process required before the ambulance can begin responding to calls.
Officials say the process includes installing lettering, radios, communication equipment, tags and registration, along with transferring major medical equipment including stretcher mounts, refrigerators, and cardiac monitors.
Crews also must stock the ambulance with state-required medical supplies and equipment before the unit can undergo inspection by the State Office of EMS.
Lawrence County EMS says additional steps remain before the ambulance is officially placed into service in the coming weeks.
EMS officials also thanked the Lawrence County Commission and County Executive David Morgan for supporting the purchase of the new unit.
