The National Weather Service in Nashville says Middle Tennessee can expect repeated chances for showers and scattered thunderstorms through the Memorial Day weekend.
Forecasters say the rainfall should provide some relief from ongoing drought conditions across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, rainfall totals through next Tuesday are expected to range from 2 to 3 inches.
Officials say there will be dry periods between rounds of rain, but each day carries a high chance for showers and storms.
While widespread flooding and severe weather are not expected, forecasters say brief localized flooding and ponding of water could occur in areas receiving heavier downpours.
