Tennessee’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.6 percent in March, according to new figures released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
The state’s unemployment rate continues to remain below the national rate, which stood at 4.3 percent in March.
Officials say Tennessee added approximately 12,100 nonfarm jobs between February and March, with the largest gains occurring in healthcare and social assistance, accommodation and food services, and administrative and support services.
Over the past year, employers across the state added roughly 9,200 nonfarm jobs.
County data released Thursday showed all but two of Tennessee’s 95 counties reported lower unemployment rates in March compared to February.
Williamson County recorded the state’s lowest unemployment rate at 2.5 percent, while Pickett County had the highest at 5.7 percent.
The state is expected to release April unemployment figures on Thursday, May 21.
